Frequently asked experiential learning questions
Want to learn more about what experiential learning is and how it can benefit your company and training?
Here are some frequently asked questions to help you understand if role play training is right for your team.
What is the purpose of role play training?
In short, the purpose of role play within communications training is to give participants authentic and relevant experience of how to implement different styles of communication in a risk free environment. We give them the freedom to try out new things without any concerns of judgement or reputational damange.
How do you conduct a role play?
We use a combination of scenarios, based on our many years of experience or the unique needs of you team.
We provide participants with an outline of the scenario and they begin their roleplay conversation with our associate based on that outline. This isn’t scripted, our roleplayers adapt to the participant’s behaviour and take their cues from them. Then they give feedback from their perspective, and encourage the participant to try again.
What are role play activities for soft skills?
Our role plays are designed to enhance communication skills or “soft skills”. Our clients are often very technically skilled, and our focus is on how to give them the tools to leverage and communicate their knowledge with impact and clarity. The focus of our activities during role play is on communication, rather than technical content.
What are the 3 parts of role play?
Scenarios, roles and guides. We provide the scenarios, participants and role players play their assigned roles, and role players act as guides, giving feedback to make improvements.
